You know those sugar-filled bars sandwiched between jugs of protein powder and weight loss shakes? The ones that are usually near the pharmacy or the aisles with vitamins and bandages?
Walk away from those. Do not put them in your cart!
Seriously. They’re bad for your body, and they don’t even taste that good. The good stuff is hiding in the refrigerated section.
What exactly is this “good stuff” I’m referring to? I’ll tell you after I share my usual disclaimer:
I received this product for free from Moms Meet (momsmeet.com) to use and post my honest opinions. Compensation for this post was provided, and this page may contain affiliate links.
Okay, I’m ready to tell you about the only protein bars I actually like. They’re made by Perfect Bar, and I actually started buying them long before I partnered with Moms Meet to create this blog post.
See? Here’s one of my posts on Instagram (follow me if you don’t already – username is MakeItWithMissy):
The Perfect Bar pictured above is actually my favorite flavor (Dark Chocolate Chip Peanut Butter With Sea Salt).
Oh, and if you’re reading the comments on my Instagram post, don’t panic. Perfect Bars aren’t $6 a bar. I’ve never seen them priced higher than $2.99 for the big bars and $1.30 for the mini bars.
Anyway, let’s talk about my favorite flavor first. I don’t like chocolate by itself, but chocolate and peanut butter? Heck yeah!
And a pinch of sea salt to enhance the rich flavor of the chocolate and peanut butter? Yesssssss.
Check out all the chocolate chips in that Perfect Bar. I was expecting to see a few chips spread throughout the bar and couldn’t believe how many were actually inside.
Oh, I should warn you that this protein bar is super filling. My kids and I often cut them in half and share them because we get full easily. I consider this a benefit because it’s nice to have a snack that actually fills you up.
We eat a lot of fruits and veggies at my house, but sometimes we need something that curbs hunger for hours. Perfect Bar (any variety) does the trick.
My entire family (myself and 3 kids) all loved the Dark Chocolate Chip Peanut Butter With Sea Salt Perfect Bar, but my youngest son had a different favorite: The Blueberry Cashew Perfect Bar. I barely even get to try one because he polished off the entire box himself. Both of these flavors have earned permanent spots on my shopping list.
Here’s my daughter posing with some of her other favorite flavors:
She’s a huge fan of the Perfect Bar Minis and even packed one for tomorrow’s lunch with her veggie burger. She’s bringing the Almond Butter Mini (the one in the green wrapper).
The Almond Butter Mini Perfect Bar is the same one I send with my youngest when he brings his lunch. He has a close friend with a peanut allergy, so he’s very careful not to bring peanut products to school. He knows that he could make his friend sick if he eats peanut butter and forgets to wash his hands.
See those Halloween decorations in the background? I’m that annoying person who has been ready for Halloween since early September. I just love holidays in general.
Let’s not get sidetracked, though. I need to tell you more about why Perfect Bars rock.
Every Perfect Bar is:
- Non GMO
- Gluten Free
- Soy Free
- Whey Free
- American Made
They’re also packed with nutrients. I was surprised that I couldn’t taste any of the vegetables or fruits hidden in each Perfect Bar. I’m very sensitive to flavors/smells and usually notice hidden ingredients right away.
Remember the Dark Chocolate Chip Peanut Bar With Sea Salt that I mentioned above? Well, you won’t believe some of the good stuff that’s hidden inside that bar! It contains:
And a bunch of other healthy ingredients.
The chocolate is even Fair Trade Certified, which you may remember is something that’s important to me. I’m not just a keyboard social justice warrior; I like to buy (and do) things to help make the world better for everyone.
Are you interested in hearing a bit about the company? I’ve got the scoop on the history of Perfect Bar.
Perfect Bar is a family-owned business. A father of 13 kids created the recipe for Perfect Bar because he wanted his family to have healthy, delicious snacks. He was excited about his nutritious bars, happily exclaiming “It’s perfect!” after the first bite.
When Bud Keith passed, his kids decided to share Dad’s secret recipes with the world. That’s how Perfect Bar was born.
