Happy Prime Day! Happy Slurpee Day 2017! Happy Cow Appreciation Day!
Wow, we have a lot going on today! I didn’t even mention that some Chick-fil-A stores have free sandwiches this morning as part of an ongoing promotion where you get a free breakfast sandwich every Tuesday. We try to eat healthy in my home…but we might have Chick-fil-A for breakfast, visit 7-11 after lunch for a free Slurpee, and head back to Chick-fil-A in our cow costumes for dinner. Shhhhh, don’t judge – Mom is on a budget.
Okay, let’s run through the days deals and promos:
Today is Amazon Prime Day. Prime Day is a popular shopping day similar to Black Friday and Cyber Monday. People flock to the website to score deals on everything from electronics to clothes. Personally I’d like a deal on snacks since my kids eat 24/7 during summer break.
I’m an affiliate for Ibotta, a popular cash-back rebate app that has partnered with Amazon to bring you extra savings on deals today (and every day). The FTC requires that I tell you I earn money if you click on links with my referral code and make a qualifying purchase. This article contains some of those links.
I didn’t take that pretty pic above. Shoutout to Pixabay for always having the cutest stock photos.
Alright, on to the next special event: Slurpee Day 2017!
I’ll be honest: I don’t really like Slurpees, and I 100% hate giving my kids anything with artificial colors or flavors. We won’t even talk about the high sugar content in these frozen beverages.
However, my kids love Slurpees and look forward to Slurpee Day each summer. I’m not going to deprive them of that joy, so we’ll head to 7-11 and wait in line forever for a free Slurpee.
Don’t worry, the vehicle wasn’t moving. I don’t text and drive. Or blog and drive. Or do anything other than drive and drive.
Here’s what you need to know about Slurpee Day 2017:
- Locations don’t have to participate, but pretty much all of them do
- You get a free small Slurpee, so put that giant cup down!
- Flavors sell out toward the end of the day, so go early if you can
- The promotion runs from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. but some people line up early
- Expect to wait in line for a while if you’re visiting a busy store
After you grab your free Slurpee from 7-11, slip into your cow costume and head to Chick-fil-A for Cow Appreciation Day.
My son worked super hard on his costume a couple years ago. He was 4 here:
And check out how adorable the kids looked the year before that:
As you can see, we love Cow Appreciation Day. It’s fun to dress up, even if there’s no free food involved.
I can’t eat wheat, but our local Chick-fil-A has plenty of gluten-free options. I usually get the grilled nuggets or a salad. For breakfast, you can order a scrambled egg in a box with cheese and bacon. The french fries at Chick-fil-A are also gluten free.
Also, has anyone else noticed that Chick-fil-A hires the nicest people ever? They seem genuinely delighted to take my order each time I go there with my kids. I tell them thank you when they hand me my food or carry it to the table, and they always respond with “My pleasure.” I have to admit my customer skills were nowhere near as good when I worked at McDonald’s back in the day.
Okay, enough about my employment history. Here’s the scoop on Cow Appreciation Day:
- It runs from open til 7 p.m. but I’ve heard (I can’t confirm this though) that some stores only doing it from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.
- You get an entree for dressing in full cow gear (so you can’t just draw a couple spots on your arm and call yourself a cow)
- A kid’s meal counts as an entree
- It gets crowded inside, so you may want to hit up the drive-thru window

Okay, it’s time for me to snag some Prime Day deals before I eat free food at Chick-fil-A and chug down a free Slurpee. Hope you all enjoy this fun-filled day!
