Considering Probiotics? Get the Scoop on Jarro-Dophilus Women 5 Billion

I’ve been slowly repairing my gut health over the years. During this time, I’ve tried multiple probiotics, as well as stuff like Restore, curcumin, and random supplements I found on Amazon. I’m always excited to try new products that promote a healthy digestive system, so I was psyched when Moms Meet asked if I wanted to try Jarro-Dophilus Women 5 Billion.

I like to stay on the FTC’s good side, so I need to share this statement before I continue:

I received this product for free from Moms Meet ( to use and post my honest opinions. Compensation for this post was provided and this page may contain affiliate links.

Alright, glad we got that out of the way.

Here’s the scoop on Jarro-Dophilus Women 5 Billion:

(FYI, my laptop is in the shop being repaired – I’ll rotate this pic when I get it back)

It’s gluten free, dairy free, egg free, peanut free, and soybean free. It’s also vegan, which is great because I’ve found that some probiotics contain dairy. I love dairy, but it doesn’t return the love when I consume it.

You may have noticed that this product has the word “women” in the title. That’s not just some marketing gimmick; it’s truly designed for women.

Here’s why:

Jarrow Formulas has 4 patented Astarte strains that were derived from healthy women during pregnancy (the 3rd month of pregnancy, to be exact). These strains were found during clinical research, and some experts believe they promote optimum vaginal health.

The strains are:

  • L. Crispatus
  • L. Jensenii
  • L. Gasseri
  • L. rhamnosus

These 4 powerful strains join forces to protect your reproductive health as well as keep your urinary tract running smoothly. As someone who suffers frequent bladder and kidney infections, I found this exciting.

But does it work?

Yes, it works for some women, and it might work for you. However, it takes time. Don’t pop a capsule and expect immediate results. It took me several weeks, which is totally normal. You didn’t wreck your digestive health in one day, so you can’t expect an immediate fix.

I have digestive issues and LPR. With LPR, acid basically shoots up my esophagus when I swallow a food or beverage. Luckily, these probiotics have a special EnteroGuard® coating that protects them from acid. This helps ensure the probiotics inside end up in the right place before they make their way through your body.

Dr. Norman Robillard says probiotics can benefit some people with GERD, LPR, and similar conditions. Check with your own doctor just to be safe, though. I have colitis, and during severe episodes it’s not safe for me to take probiotics. My doctor said they’re fine the rest of the time.
